An EAP (English for Academic Purposes) is an alternative to an IELTS certification (otherwise an IELTS certification is still necessary (minimum score of 6.5)).
It is a quite intensive course that focuses on perfecting English fluency. The course focuses on skills such as Grammar, Vocabulary, Writing and studies on Academic English textbooks, intercultural communication and conversational English to enrol in a higher education course.
Amongst the practical competencies to be acquired, there are, for example, writing short essays, project presentations and research skills. Academic English courses may be undertaken also by those who do not aim to study at a university level yet require a higher language preparation other than General English.
Academic English courses are divided into three levels:
- Intermediate
- Upper Intermediate
- Advanced
Every module is distributed over 10 weeks, and schools may have fixed intake dates.
