Can I apply for permanent residency after holding a 485 visa?
While holding a 485 visa does not automatically lead to permanent residency, it can be a pathway to permanent residency if you meet the requirements. We strongly recommend contacting a migration agent.

Do all courses lead to a 485 visa?

- You must have completed a qualification from an Australian educational institution as a result of at least two years of study in Australia.
- You must have studied in a CRICOS-registered course.
- Plus, the course you completed must be relevant to the subclass of the 485 visa you are applying for. For example, if you are applying under the Graduate Work stream, your course should be closely related to an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List.
One more thing: Under the Second Post-Study Work Stream you must have studied in a regional area.
