The Cambridge Certificate is useful for curricula purposes and admittance to vocational and higher education courses. The exam features four tests: Reading Comprehension, Writing, Listening and Speaking.
The Cambridge course may be undertaken after a General English course in order to meet English level requirements for admittance to the course.
If you wish to enrol in a Cambridge course, a pre-entry test is usually required, followed by another test on the course start date. Schools must assess individual language skills prior to the course beginning.

CAMBRIDGE COURSES IN AUSTRALIA: WHAT ARE THEY?
Cambridge preparation courses are complete and enhance competencies useful to successfully pass the exam, and that will generally improve language skills.
- Cambridge courses are based on 10–12-week modules.
- Cambridge courses have fixed intake dates every three months: January, March, June and September.
- Flexible intake dates are organised by some institutions.
- Cambridge courses are most often scheduled in day-time classes.
- The Cambridge exam can be taken at the end of the course. It is based on a letter grade system: A, B, C (pass); D and E (fail).
The abilities developed through Cambridge exam preparation courses embrace all aspects of the English language: Grammar, Vocabulary, Writing and Reading, and are divided into three levels:
- First Certificate (FCE): requires an Intermediate entry level equivalent to an IELTS score of 5.0 – 6.0.
- Advanced (CAE): requires an Upper Intermediate entry level equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.5 and 7.0.
- Proficiency (CPE): requires an Advanced entry level equivalent to an IELTS score of 7.5 and 9.0.
